Position Summary:

The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation is seeking an experienced and strategic director of county support to provide financial leadership, oversight, and guidance to county farm bureaus across Ohio. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency and integrity of financial reporting for the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation and other affiliated and contractual entities. The director of county support serves as a trusted advisor and resource to county leaders, offering expert guidance on accounting practices, financial compliance and operational excellence. This position combines high-level financial management with a commitment to service, training and continuous improvement throughout the county network. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for financial record preparation and reporting across county farm bureaus and related entities.
  • Ensure accurate and compliant tax filings (Form 990 and 990EZ) for all applicable organizations.
  • Serve as the organization’s subject matter expert in QuickBooks Online and ProSeries Professional, setting standards and best practices for county financial operations.
  • Lead training and development initiatives for county offices and organizational directors, promoting consistent financial procedures and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct financial reviews of county records and support the preparation of documentation for audits and self-audit programs.
  • Oversee bi-weekly payroll processing for county farm bureaus, including changes related to new hires, terminations and compensation adjustments.
  • Manage payroll tax filing and reporting (monthly, quarterly and annual) and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Support account reconciliation, investigate reconciling items and provide guidance on complex accounting issues as needed.
  • Partner with the chief financial officer to identify opportunities for process improvement, strengthen internal controls and enhance financial transparency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Extensive experience with QuickBooks Online and ProSeries Professional.
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, payroll processes and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train and collaborate effectively across a decentralized organization.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
