Events Manager

Bennett Association Management, LLC, is an association management company (AMC) based in Columbus, Ohio, founded in 2017 to provide exceptional event management and association management services to trade and professional associations. The company is seeking to hire a full-time, exempt events manager to work remotely with some in-state and national travel required for events. 

The events manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing meetings, conferences and events for multiple association clients within the association management company (AMC) portfolio. This role requires exceptional organizational and communication skills, a high degree of professionalism and the ability to manage concurrent projects and priorities. The events manager serves as the primary point of contact for event logistics, collaborating closely with client committees, vendors, venues and internal teams to ensure each event’s success from concept through post-event evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

Event Planning & Logistics:

  • Lead the full event planning cycle for multiple association clients, including conferences, trade shows, workshops and social events.
  • Research, source and negotiate with venues, hotels and vendors for catering, audio visual, transportation and entertainment.
  • Prepare and manage event budgets, monitor expenditures and ensure financial accountability.
  • Oversee online registration systems for events, including attendee registration, payments, confirmations and reporting.
  • Respond to and resolve attendee inquiries related to registration, hotel and event logistics.
  • Oversee registration processes, hotel blocks and attendee communications.
  • Create detailed timelines, production schedules and on-site operations plans.
  • Coordinate all logistical aspects of in-person, hybrid and virtual meetings.

Committee & Client Relations:

  • Serve as the lead liaison to volunteer committees and event task forces, facilitating regular planning calls and progress meetings.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and status reports to ensure alignment and clear communication among stakeholders.
  • Guide committees in decision-making related to event programming, sponsorship and logistics
  • Maintain strong client relationships through professionalism, responsiveness and proactive communication.

Event Marketing & Communications:

  • Collaborate with internal teams and client committees to develop and execute event marketing plans.
  • Oversee design of event materials, including signage, banners, name badges, programs and sponsor recognition pieces.
  • Create sponsor slides, PowerPoint decks and event graphics consistent with client branding guidelines.

On-site Event Management:

  • Provide hands-on management during events, including vendor coordination, setup oversight, registration supervision and troubleshooting.
  • Manage event staff, volunteers and vendors to ensure smooth operations.
  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for clients and attendees.
  • Ensure brand standards and client expectations are met throughout the event experience.

Post-event Management:

  • Conduct post-event evaluations and prepare summary reports
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in future events.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, Communications or related field preferred.
  • 4+ years of professional event and meeting planning experience, preferably in an association or nonprofit environment.
  • Experience managing multiple client accounts or projects simultaneously is highly desirable.
  • CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) designation or progress toward certification is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of event logistics, contract negotiation and vendor management.
  • Experience in managing online registration systems and event communication tools.
  • Excellent project management, organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Confident in leading meetings and working with volunteer committees.
  • Budget management and financial reporting experience.
  • Proficiency in event management software, Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Cvent, etc.).
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Canva, PowerPoint or Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to represent the AMC and its clients effectively.

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional overnight travel for in-state meetings and national conferences (approximately 10 percent travel).
  • Ability to work flexible hours during events, including some evenings and weekends.

Working Environment

This position operates in a remote office setting with frequent virtual collaboration and occasional in-person meetings. On-site event work may involve extended periods of standing or lifting materials up to 25 pounds.
